The Hong Kong Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), as it was initially called, was founded in 1903 by a dedicated group of volunteers who were determined to stop the cruel treatment of livestock during transportation and slaughter.
As the first charity in Hong Kong to focus on animal welfare, SPCA took on the challenging task of caring for all needy animals.
