Importing Pets to Hong Kong:

Requirement and Timeline

  • Preparation Time: 1 to 15 months

  • Pet Health Checks: Ensure your pet is healthy and ready for travel.

  • Microchip: Your pet must be microchipped.

  • Special Permit: Obtain the necessary permits for import.

  • Airline Certificate: Provide a Captain's affidavit for travel.

  • Import Permit: Secure the required import documentation.

  • Dog License: Necessary for dogs.

  • Rabies Booster Vaccine: Required upon arrival for dogs (not applicable if the dog has a valid Hong Kong license).

  • Rabies Neutralizing Antibody Titre Test (RNATT): Required for certain pets.


For dogs:

  1. Canine Distemper Virus

  1. Infectious Canine Hepatitis

  1. Canine Parvovirus

For cats:

  1. Feline Panleukopaenia

  1. Feline Respiratory Disease Complex

  • Vaccination Records: Ensure all records are up to date.

  • Health Certificate: Obtain from a licensed veterinarian.

  • Country’s Category: Determine if your country falls under Group 1, 2, or 3.

  • Quarantine: Be prepared for potential quarantine requirements.

  • Document Copies: Submit copies of all necessary documents.
