Importing Pets to Europe:

Requirement and Timeline

  • Microchip: ISO microchip, and for some European countries AVID-9 and AVID-10 are also accepted.

  • Vaccinations: Ensure they are up to date
- For cats and dogs: Rabies must be administered 21 days before the final veterinary health check-up.


For cats and dogs:

  1. Rabies: 
Administered 21 days before the final veterinary health check-up.

For dogs:

To be given 2 weeks before entering Europe.

  1. Canine Distemper Virus

  1. Canine Hepatitis

  1. Parainfluenza

  1. Leptospirosis

  1. Kennel Cough

  1. Parvovirus (DHLPP)

For cats:

To be given 2 weeks before entering Europe.

  1. Feline Rhinotracheitis

  1. Feline Herpesvirus

  1. Panleukopenia (FVRCP)


  • Health Certificate: to be obtained within 10 days before date of arriving EU.

  • Parasite Treatment: none require unless pet is travelling via France to UK or other EU countries.
